Microcrystalline cellulose is a term for refined wood pulp and is used as a texturizer, an anti-caking agent, a fat substitute, an emulsifier, an extender, and a bulking agent in food product. It can be used to bulk up powders for tablet compression or to increase powder volume for capsules. Used in combination with Magnesium Stearate (Lubricant) to improve flow in pill manufacturing machines and capsule filling machine.
